STORY HOURS
Preschool Time: Fridays @ 9:30 am: Stories for 3-5 yr olds
Toddler Time: Thursdays 10 am: Stories & movement for 3 and under.
Pajama Story Time for toddlers with Penny Cunningham: first Wednesdays of each month 5:30 pm. Regular Toddler Time
will still be held on the Thursday after.
Plaster Casting Workshop
New event for kids on Friday, March 16th (an in-service day) from 10 to noon. Kids ages 5 to 8 will make a “handbook” to paint while kids ages 9 to 12 will cast a handshake to decorate. Please sign up at the library so we’ll know how many to expect.
International Film Night
INTERNATIONAL FILM NIGHT: On Wednesday, March 7th we will show the 2011 film, “The Debt” starring Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain, and Tom Wilkinson. “A pulse-pounding and politically charged suspense thriller”.

Our 6th annual Summer Author Talk will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at 7 pm. We will be presenting the well known children’s author, Katherine Paterson. Her many books include, “Bridge to Terabithia”, “Jacob Have I Loved”, and “Lyddie”. Two of her books have been selected by the Vermont Humanities Council for their Vermont Reads program: “Counting On Grace” in 2007 and “Day of the Pelican” in 2010.
Vermont Humanities Council Readingand Discussion Series
Our new Vermont Humanities Council Reading and Discussion Series will begin in April. The series is titled New England Uncovered. What lies hidden beneath the popular images of New England with its white spires and Yankee frugality? More than meets the eye! The books in the series will be Peyton Place by Grace Metalious, Affliction by Russell Banks, A Brother’s Blood by Michael White and I’m a Stranger Here Myself by Bill Bryson. Books will be arriving in the middle of March.

Vermont State Parks and Historic Sites Passes
A Vermont State Parks Pass will once again be available at the library for patrons to check out. This pass admits one vehicle holding up to eight people to any Vermont state day park for one day. In addition, the Vermont Historic Sites pass is also available for loan this year. This pass admits one family or group up to eight people for one day to any Vermont Historic Site. These pass programs will begin after Memorial Day when the parks and historic sites open. Please call the library with any questions.

BARB'S BACKPACKS: In honor of retired Library Trustee chairman, Barb Carter, the SHCL now has 4 backpacks filled with books to read, puzzles and games to play with, and music to listen to. The backpacks are theme based and best suited for 3 to 5 year olds. The 5 themes are Transportation/Vehicles, Farmyard Animals, Dogs and Puppies, Zoo/Wild Animals, and Teddy Bears. Come on in and check them out!!
